Mike is the principal contributor to the World Bank's widely read and influential EduTech blog. His essays and posts on the World Bank EduTech blog, exploring emerging research, good (and bad) practice examples from successful (and failed) projects, new technologies and initiatives (from tablets to MOOCs, the Khan Academy to One Laptop Per Child), are widely referenced and cited by policymakers and practitioners alike. Strong themes in his work include issues related to equity and emerging practices related to technology use in education in low resource, rural and/or isolated parts of the world.

Papers

Mike was the author of the influential infoDev/World Bank publication, Knowledge Maps: ICT and Education -- What we know, and what we don't, about ICT use in education in developing countries. Notable research projects and publications during his time at infoDev include over 75 country-level surveys of ICT and education in Africa and the Caribbean, a handbook on Monitoring and Evaluation of ICT in Education Projects, Using Technology to Train Teachers: Appropriate Uses of ICT for Teacher Professional Development in Developing Countries; and the ICT in Education Toolkit for Policymakers, Planners & Practitioners (with UNESCO, used in policy planning processes in over 25 countries).
